SCAM ALERT: Careerbuilder.com

Original review updated by user Sep 14, 2021
Receiving constant text messages and emails from scammers that got my profile and resume from Careerbuilder.com. Emails contain malware, phishing emails, links and scams. The emails say "job offer" and "job interview" in subject line and ensnare job seekers using names of major Fortune 500 companies. All are from fake email accounts, usually gmail senders. Total nuisance and Careerbuilder does not respond by phone. I have left messages and spoken to different areas of the company but customer service does not respond back.

User's recommendation: AVOID Careerbuilder.com.

Bad Experience

I was told to apply on Ohio Means Jobs for a Mail Handler position with the post office. When I clicked on job there, I was sent to CareerBuilder where I saw the Mail Handler job listed. When I selected the apply option, Career Builder sent me to an application process that tried to sell me an effing...... book to study for the Post Office jobs.

User's recommendation: FORGET CAREER BUILDER IT IS A FARCE. COMPLAIN TO YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR STATE EMPLOYMENT SERVICE.

Trying to remove my account

I keep receiving what appears to be suspicious job emails. Stating that they found my résumé on CareerBuilder. I thought that I had deleted this account and some of the positions that they sent me are ridiculous. The gentleman that I spoke with could not help me but gave me a website to contact CB. Apparently it was an incorrect email address because it got bounced back.

User's recommendation: Don’t waste your time!

To Cancel service and subscription

Career Builder - To Cancel service and subscription
They are awful !!!! Their emails dont work - They email you and you cant respond because when you reply to their message you get a return. To cancel service they send you to 5 different people like a ping pong ball . No one takes responsibilities. No one has access to your contract and couldnt tell you anything about it. Then eventually you connect with billing who now tells you that you have to send a letter (via mail) to legal to review and wait fir a response that can possibly be a denial. Now its been 7 weeks and still trying to cancel the contract.

User's recommendation: Stay away.

Career Builder is just like 90% of these job search companies. I have been looking for remote data entry for about three months. They will send you a text: a data entry position just opened up. What email can we give employers to contact you. You can't go any further...

Getting calls from scammers

Individuals have access to resumes and are calling for the purpose of scamming. I did my due diligence and called the parent company only to find out its nothing the first time its happened.

Possible scam

Do you have a recruiter named Mrs. Stacy Allen, calling from (929) 292-****? Via text, I have been offered an interview with "ERGO Insurance Group" for a remote position earning $49/hr., $1,960/wk., or $3,920 biweekly. Supposedly, I am to learn everything about the position during a Skype interview. No further contact has been made today by Mrs. Allen (I got the original text yesterday). I smell a rat. Just recently, I fell prey to an employment scam. I can find no job listing on CareerBuilder for ERGO Insurance or anything like it (a similar name applies to a real health insurance company).

User's recommendation: Watch out - people who send you texts with job offers are almost always scammers.
